Roger L. Burford, Ph.D.
Our owner, Dr.
Roger L. Burford, received his undergraduate education in statistics and
business administration at the University of Mississippi. He then
earned his masters degree in economics at the University of Mississippi.
After completion of his masters degree, Dr. Burford earned his Ph.D. degree in
economics and statistics under a Ford Foundation fellowship at Indiana
University in Bloomington. Later he did post doctoral work at
Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburg under a summer Ford Foundation
post doctoral fellowship.
During his last
year at Indiana University, Dr. Burford served on the economics faculty there,
replacing his major professor who was away for the year. Dr. Burford then
served on the graduate faculty for three
years at Georgia State University, where he was Assistant Professor of economics,
then Associate Professor of Economics. After three years at Georgia State University, Dr.
Burford moved to Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, where he served
on the graduate faculty for 29 years until he retired in
1992. During his tenure at Louisiana State University, Dr. Burford
was an Associate Professor, Full Professor, Director of Research for the College of
Business, and also served as the Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisors
for the Governor of Louisiana. Also, during this period he took
a year off as Fulbright Professor of Economics at National Taiwan University in
Taipei. In addition to his work at EIRI, Dr. Burford also teaches
at The University of Phoenix, and serves as a volunteer counselor for
people who are starting up new businesses with S.C.O.R.E.
During his academic
years, Dr. Burford published three books and some 110 to 120 research monographs
and articles in refereed regional, national, and international journals.
He presented many academic research papers at conferences throughout
the United States, Holland, Taiwan, and Australia.
In addition to his academic persuits,
Dr. Burford has served as a consultant to many local and national companies,
associations, and government agencies on a part-time basis. Since his
academic retirement, he has worked full-time as a professional consultant
in his capacity as president and owner of
EIRI.
